After requesting a kitchen design from Clare Pascoe, the Clients were impressed by her equal passion and knowledge of mid-century furniture; and from this meeting of minds invited Clare to pitch on the full interior design project, knowing that Clare’s signature vintage contemporary style was a perfect look to realise their vision for their new property, set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

 

The family had specific ideas on how most rooms were to be used, and the identity they were to adopt as a result, based upon which Clare designed schemes & furniture layouts.  A strong aspect of the brief was for the interior to be future proofed – to meet their current needs, while having the ability to adapt to their growing needs as a family. The desired base style was that of a clean lined gallery space, softened with tone and texture, with pops of colour to represent the individual family members.

 

The most striking aesthetic element of this project is the use of Mid Century furniture, that is sympathetically reupholstered in a bold palette of textural fabrics that are largely from British mills, against the crisp cream gallery style back drop.  Existing pieces were reworked and mixed with contemporary elements commissioned from Best of British Designer Makers to create a clean, cohesive and individual interior.

 

Window treatments are kept to a minimum, to simply control light, without obstructing the stunning surrounding views that the couple fell in love with when they found the house. 

 

This project is a perfect example of the results that can be achieved when client, architect (Spratley Studios) & designer work in total harmony and collaboration, supporting and trusting one another implicitly during even the toughest periods of the project.
